Wedding photography at the White Hart Lydgate Lancashire
I was so excited to photograph Andy and Sarah’s summer wedding at The White Hart Lydgate Oldham Lancashire. I knew Sarah’s chosen venue the White Hart well, due to it being local to my home in Tameside.
The couple had planned the wedding in the finest detail. A string quartet was selected for the bridal procession and for guests’ entertainment, whilst a sweet cart was in place for the kids who might not like wedding cake.
Sarah’s brother and his wife had travelled from Canada for the big day, along with their two young sons who had the important role of ushers. The mother of the groom made her way from Saudi Arabia, whilst two of Andy’s aunts travelled from Portugal – truly an international guest list.
Bridal preparations at the White Hart, Lydgate
The day started at 10 am for me, when I arrived The White Hart with my Canon cameras, memory cards, lenses and flashes at the bridal suite. Based in a cottage on the White Hart grounds, Sarah was already upstairs with her entourage of two make-up artists, hairdressers, seven bridesmaids and flower girls, whilst her parents waited downstairs.
Although It was very busy, there was no shortage of things to photograph at the White Hart. None of my images are posed but simply taken naturally without interruption or pause, documentary style. As a documentary wedding photographer, it’s my role to capture these never to be repeated moments and deliver them to the couple as priceless digital images.
The bridal procession to the White Hart
The bridal procession took the short walk down the road to the White Hart. Other guests staying at the venue clapped and cheered as the bride made her way to the ceremony in a beautiful dress, escorted by her father.
Andy was waiting for his bride to be at the top of the aisle with his best man, looking dapper in their navy blue suits with button holes matching the bride’s bouquet.
Wedding photography in the garden at the White Hart
The newlyweds were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, perfect for outdoor wedding photography in the garden at the White Hart. Whilst the kids enjoyed a retro ice cream cart and adults had champagne and canapés, I photographed the couple as they took a walk along a picturesque lane nearby to the White Hart that I knew about. After the jitters of the morning, it was nice to get some more relaxed images for the wedding album.
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, Andy and Sarah enjoyed their first dance as man and wife to the four-piece live band they had selected for the evening’s entertainment. Photographing guests having fun on the dance floor at the White Hart meant I needed to use some creative fill flash work, to mix with the venue’s ambient lighting.
